00:39:30 Denaise Seals: Great input! Thanks Michael. 00:39:48 Sharon Wise: I keep getting kicked out 00:40:38 Jordan Martin (she/her) | WPA: Hi Sharon, is it a connection issue? Nothing is coming up on my end. Let me see if there’s something I can do to help 00:43:05 Stephanie Silenti (she/her): great job, Red! 00:43:10 Travis (he/they) | WPA: Thank you so much for sharing ~ wow. I’m really grateful to hear some of your story 00:43:19 alexandra: Thank you for sharing!! 00:45:01 Kristofer Heng: Thank you so much for reading and sharing it with us Red! 00:52:26 Travis (he/they) | WPA: that’s so cool, Red ~ i love hearing what inspired you in your work 01:07:28 Travis (he/they) | WPA: https://www.instagram.com/somepeoplepress/ 01:07:35 Stephanie Silenti (she/her): Reacted to "https://www.instagra..." with ❤️ 01:21:20 harrellfletcher: Some People Press is an autobiographical writing and publishing project based at the Columbia River Correctional Institution, a minimum security prison in NE Portland, Oregon. Conceived of as an ongoing, participatory art work, Some People Press includes a weekly writing workshop inside the prison that offers material, professional, and emotional support, as well as the guarantee that if a writer completes their autobiography that it will be edited, designed, and published as an on-demand book available to readers globally. In an attempt to create a self-supporting economic model, the project takes the form of a small business, but to get the artwork/business up and running there is a need to develop start-up funds to help make sure the project can sustain itself into the future. 01:21:46 harrellfletcher: Project instructions for an independent artist (Misha) and a non-profit art center (WPA), designed to help support a socially engaged artwork (SPP): Think about the resources that SPP has to offer—writing samples, photos from the workshops, videos of participants reading their writing, eventually on-demand books, etc. Think about ways to use a conceptual art practice (including both examples from Misha’s past work and the history of art that has addressed the economics of sustaining art practices) coupled with the resources of an established non-profit art center (especially one like the WPA that emphasizes an interest in supporting non-commercial art practices, and is W.A.G.E certified) to promote and support SPP as it establishes itself as an ongoing socially engaged art project using a small business model, (as opposed to more traditional art world approaches). 01:22:09 harrellfletcher: Come up with both a list of conceptual ideas and at least one tangible example of how an independent artist and non-profit art center can help promote and support SPP (and other similar projects). Promote (through social media and the web, etc.) the project as both a set of instructions and the realized set of ideas and tangible results. Formalize the work through an online presentation/discussion that addresses the larger issues and the specific outcomes of the project. Beyond the online event, potentially continue to activate more of the unrealized ideas that were generated and or were added to as part of the discussion to help support SPP into the future. 01:25:58 Jordan Martin (she/her) | WPA: https://mishailin.com/meta-meta-meta-store-list-of-items 01:38:50 Kristofer Heng: I have a question for SSP. In thinking through these kinds of questions around art vs. business, do you keep all the various correspondences and other bureaucratic materials that get generated through this kind of work, and do you all have a way of collecting and keeping these objects, do you consider them a part of this as a work of art or an archive? 01:40:45 Kristofer Heng: Thanks for reading the question, having mic issues :) 01:40:55 Jordan Martin (she/her) | WPA: No problem! 01:45:31 Kristofer Heng: Thanks really great! 01:45:53 alexandra: Thank you!! 01:47:12 Kristofer Heng: Will definitely be by to see you Misha at the show! 01:47:21 Travis (he/they) | WPA: https://www.wpadc.org/exhibitions/misha-ilin-meta-meta 01:47:37 Travis (he/they) | WPA: The WPA Project Space is open Thurs - Sat 1-6pm 01:47:48 Matt Malone: Harrell I was a student at VCU in 2005 when you showed The American War at Solvent Space. I worked at the gallery for part of my work study job and photographed all your photographs and posted them on the VCU arts building! 01:48:07 Misha Ilin: ilyin.mike@gmail.com 01:48:38 Travis (he/they) | WPA: https://www.wpadc.org/events/meta-meta-performance-joshua-coyne 01:48:50 Denaise Seals: Thank you! 01:48:57 Kristofer Heng: Thanks everyone again! 01:49:02 Travis (he/they) | WPA: Thanks, Harrell, Thanks Misha <3 01:49:08 Sarah Bennani: Thank you 01:49:18 Travis (he/they) | WPA: Red, so awesome hearing your work! 01:49:59 Travis (he/they) | WPA: ❤️ 01:50:20 Misha Ilin: Wonderful words Red
