Ira Tattelman is an artist and licensed architect in Washington, DC. His installations are made of common materials layered and left behind in everyday settings. They challenge the viewer to question whether (s)he is participating with art or not and to reconsider one’s surroundings. He has created public art on the streets of DC for (e)merge Art Fair, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and others. He has placed art installations within public and private art spaces such as Harmon Art Lab , Fraser Gallery, Arlington Arts Center, DCAC, Warehouse Gallery and the Mansion Gallery of Art. His design work has been featured on the TV programs Small Space, Big Style (HGTV) and Garage Takeover (Discovery). He has been featured in articles in the Washington Post, City Paper, Metro Weekly and Washington Blade. Reviews have appeared in those publications along with the New York Times, Washington Review and several blogs and websites. Mr. Tattelman received a Master in Architecture, First Professional Degree, from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design in 1994. He developed and teaches a full day seminar on Creative Placemaking as well as the dialogue between Art and Architecture.
