2017 WPA Auction Gala

The 36th annual WPA AUCTION GALA. The exhibition/event will took place at the Uline Arena (1140 Third Street NE) in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, DC. The gorgeous space was repurposed for the event by DAVIS Construction and donated by Douglas Development.
The 2017 auction was curated by six artists, one former artist, and a curator. This was the first time in decades that the auction has not been curated by institutional curators and the change signaled WPA’s shift to becoming a more artist-driven organization. The eight curators were: Ellen Altfest, artist, New York; Omar López-Chahoud, Artistic Director, UNTITLED, and co-curator Prospect New Orleans; Deana Haggag, President and CEO, United States Artists, Chicago; Linn Meyers, artist, Washington, DC; Jonathan Monaghan, artist, Washington, DC; Jefferson Pinder, artist and professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; José Ruiz, artist, DC, and Director, MICA Curatorial Practice, Baltimore; and Sarah Stolfa, artist and Founding Director, Philadelphia Photo Arts Center; and the WPA Board of Directors.
