In 1979 the Washington Project for the Arts reached out to Bob “Daddy-O” Wade for the WPA’s first temporary public site project. Daddy-O decided on a 40 foot tall pair of cowboy boots which was situated on an empty lot at the corner of 12th and G Streets, NW.
